I'm going to build on the theory and say GDL turned RTD down but went for it when JB offered.
This would make RTD even madder than just being turned down alone.
Also it explains the absence (to me anyway) of any sexual tension between GDL and JB this series.
And it amuses me to think of everyone hitting on each other during production.
