I personally don't buy that Ianto had any daddy issues, either, but by God, did Russell attempt to shoehorn them in there somewhere and fuel that impression that some people have of Ianto as a hero-worshipping sap. I don't understand why he even went there.

And the James Moran thing? Yeah, so he got a half-dozen batshit fangirls calling him names, that really is wholly to be expected after the way he shamelessly courted them and fed their Janto obsession and told them they'd love what was about to transpire. If he didn't realise he was setting himself up for that then I'm afraid he's just a bit dim.
