I'm pretty sure we do. Series one is all about how wonderfully human and fabulous Jack thinks Gwen is and how much he needs her to be human and compassionate because the rest of his team, including himself, are all jaded and bitter and angsty. Or something like that.

And even if it is coming from promotional soundbites, it's still hugely bizarre that the PR doesn't match the canon IN ANY WAY, which just brings up loads of questions as to what TPTB think they're showing us on screen, and what they actually are showing us.

And whichever is the case, my main point about Jack and Torchwood still stands. :p
