As someone who does work at a studio I think you should understand the rules change on a daily basis. Pilots are shot during hiatus. . .and /that/ depends on when the particular show and when the producer/writer with the new pilot goes on hiatus. And there is mid season. While not at liberty to say much more I know where stages are on hold or booked through May.

Currently . . . smash shows are renewing for 5 months not years. . . .Times are tight. Long term deals expensive.

If there is a strike all bets are off.

And who the hell wouldn't rather be in Los Angeles than in Cardiff in February.

US shooting schedules --- Do you have call sheets - do you know how long it takes to shoot a season ? I do.
That is dependent on the show. Some shows get canceled before they air... You liked it ? Too bad you don't count.

Yes Gareth is a smart boy with a smart agent who can work a deal if someone wants him badly enough.
