I said I'd get a few conventions out of the way before doing a pie update, so here it is. It is actually just an excuse to post some pictures for great justice and all that. (Picture credits in the titles, peeps.)

Polaris Toronto, a week and a bit ago. Let's start with pressing pie matters:



I can't quite work out what's going on in this one, is that a bulge? Or is that the shirt? Answers on a postcard, please, fabric or tum?? I just can't decide. What I can see is that he hasn't been taking my advice to heart regarding not putting things in his pockets because it draws the eye away from his cock. *squints* Unless that is his cock. Again, there's a strange fabricy thing going on here that I can't quite put my finger on. In this case I'm pretty sure it's fabric. Also, yes, that's John Barrowman's mother. Maybe we could ask her? This one's a bit clearer on the pie front, and I'm thinking this is definitely a positive development. Also, I note the tan thing has been taken on board, and damn, it does suit him. The pasty Welshness wasn't helping matters in any way. Good job, boy!




Chin status: Good, going well. Designer stubble, still, so it's hard to tell, but again I think we're going places. Good, fine places. Also, maybe I've just put this smiley picture in for no real reason. It's cute. Mmmm.

PIE STATUS AS OF JULY 2008: Still undecided, but the tan is doing it for me. I'm going, hesitantly, with a positive progession.

ETA: From the pictures and video I've been looking at re. pie, I'm getting the distinct impression that in the past few months Gareth has fallen into the trap that so many young men have fallen into before him. He does seem to be going to the gym regularly now, but he seems to be concentrating on building up muscle. He's gone way broader on top than he used to be and he's suddenly way more defined in the chest and shoulders, but he doesn't seem to be getting enough aerobic exercise to get rid of the gut. Hire a personal trainer, boy!

Count me in as still more than mildly amused at these posts. Also, statistically speaking, the pictures and associated commentary tend more toward the topic of peen than the topic of pie. So, I'm a bit surprised that so many are reading these posts as if the discussion is along the lines of "OMG! GDL is a gross, disgusting fatty!" Or perhaps the reading is more like skimming over, rather than taking in all of the words? On a more serious note, while it's true that it takes all kinds and not all people are the same size and so on and so forth, Gareth has voluntarily chosen a profession in which looks absolutely factor into the competition for work. And I want to see him get more work because I think he's brilliant, so if taking care of himself will help with that, cool. In other news, I was wondering if he was chomping on nicotine gum at the panel, but then I saw the picture with the pack-shaped pocket. Alas.

I have to say that I still find this whole "pie" thing more than a tad repetitive and bizarre. As I said it was vaguely funny the first time you did it but I'm afraid the law of diminishing returns means that it is now somewhat dull. I mean write whatever the hell you want on your own journal but you do cross post this nonsense absolutely everywhere.

I am equally bewildered by the number of responses from women you get each time you do this. Are there no normal looking men where all these people live? Are you living in a sparkly land of wonder populated by male models with washboard stomachs you can bounce pennies off?

I also think if you were posting this kind of thing in relation to Eve Myles or any femle actress you'd have been absolutely crucified long ago for focusing to such a worrying extent on someone's weight.

Having said that kudos for putting your money where your mouth is and posting a photo of yourself.

But of course I wouldn't dream of critiquing it. I don't have any body issues and a, prefectly secure within myself so I don't feel the need to criticise anyone else.

Well according to ComicCon reports it may be his cock (He's 'big' according to John Barrowman...how do I make that not dirty? Or RPS slash sounding.) but is probably his cigarettes 'cause he's a smoker. Hope he quits but I understand with all the stress of being a struggling actor and trust me he struggled.

Personally, I think that he's always very hot but my friend has (during one of our Owen vs Ianto arguments) pointed out he does have a bit of a stomach sometimes. It really isn't that big of a deal for Torchwood except when he is doing shirtless scenes (more please *makes puppy dog eyes at the script writers*) as his suits do make him look stunning anyway. And have caused my slight obsession with pinstripes :p.

I love the fairy wings and the stubble. So cute. And his shoulders have definitely got bigger, I noticed it while watching a video from the comic-con.

I wouldn't like him half as much if he did look perfect. Perfect looking people tend to invoke jealous hatred from me. Besides, my favourite thing about him is definitely his sense of humour anyway.

For the people who are saying that this is really wrong, it's only wrong if people are making loads of negative comments. It's amazing that I never noticed until right now, and now I find it hysterical. As far as the pie debate goes, he looked slimmer in real life - definitely slimmer than Stolen Earth and Journey's End Ianto. When he stood up to take a picture, I slipped my hand around his hip and he felt very, uh, firm, for lack of a better word. He's pretty tall in person (I'm 5'6"), so that accounts for having a nice, broad back. Sure, there was a bit of the soft "back fat," but I quite like that. God, I feel like I'm writing a shameless fic now. Any rate, even my friend who isn't an avid Torchwood fan noted, "Has he lost weight?" And I told her yes.
