I think there's a fine line between having a dark, brooding, mysterious and enigmatic character with "issues", as you say, and having a big black box of characterisation that no-one on the writing team seems to want to open. We're sitting on either side of that line at the moment. I hope the mini series, which is, according to some sources, primarily about Jack, will bring me round to your side of the line, but I'm not there at the moment.
