What I said in the comment up there is: But I do think there's very a much a vibe in this episode that circumstances have thrown them together, and that they need each other at this moment in time, and sure, maybe it's love, but it doesn't come across as hugely permanent. Ianto's need for Jack seems to be intertwined with what happened with Lisa, and Jack's need for Ianto just seems to be a more general need that Jack has to find someone he trusts to latch onto. Like I say, I'm not negating that need from either side, I don't think it means that they could have just latched onto any old person, the fact is that they latched onto each other, and that's a perfectly romantic reason to be together. I just don't think it's a for-the-next-50-years kind of together.
