Oh, man, that was bad. I'm glad, actually, that this series has finally thrown up an episode I thought was awful, because I was starting to worry I'd entered into some weirdy parallel universe where I liked Who and didn't bitch about it. That was bad. The charades made me laugh, and if the whole episode had kept up that level of absolute cracky nonsense, I'd have been happy, but it somehow kept trying to take itself marginally seriously every ten minutes or so and ruin the mood.


So... onwards. You know how much I abhor RPF, right? I HATE RPF, I think it's offensive and really has no place in fandom, it grosses me out. There. So now you know. Having said that, TUatW reminded me that I should repeat this:

Well, pocket billiards in this case being the slightly less overt and slightly more polite in-the-pocket version of what I like to call the cock-frame, which is this:

Which, in the body language of aggression is taken to mean a general kind of "hit me with your best shot, mine's bigger than yours" kind of thing, and from a flirtatious perspective translates as "please be directing your attention to this formidable package here" (not quite sure which one Ianto's going for towards Jack in that still, but that's part of the fun). I came to the conclusion in my cockspam that Ianto does pocket billiards a lot, but then I later started to wonder if that wasn't maybe just a bit of an actor quirk as opposed to a character one. Which is what started off my fascination with Gareth's cock in the first place.

It seems to be partly a GDL thing, doesn't it? I mean, that deliciously obscene icon of yours with his hand holding the mike wire at the top of his thigh... ngah. But he's an intelligent actor; certainly it's partly a decision.

I agree that Ianto is not the woob he is often taken for. He's got some bad emotional problems, sure, but he's not a tender violet. He cries when he needs to, but so too does Jack, and no one makes Jack out to be a woobie.

Ianto is a bit toppy with Jack, which is wonderfully flavored by all the times we've seen Ianto drop his head to Jack's shoulder in embraces: End of Days, Adam, Something Borrowed, Exit Wounds.

It would thrill me to see the embrace turned around just once, with Jack burrowing into Ianto's shoulder. I dream of just the tiniest hint of h/c in the next season, of Ianto taking care of Jack after 2,000 years of torture.

Yeah, I'm very proud of my cockspam, but not really having seen Gareth in enough other roles, I'm not quite sure how much of that body language is Ianto's and how much is Gareth's. In the case of the pocket billiards/hands-on-hips thing, that definitely seems to be something Ianto does way more often than Gareth, so a definite conscious decision on his part.

I'd love to see some of that h/c, but sadly, I'm convinced the 2000 year burial will never be mentioned again.
